To get started, find the top 5 -10 content pages on your website and create a custom Content Upgrade for each post. Once that’s done you can continue on down the list until you have a Content Upgrade for every page on your site that receives a good amount of traffic each month (note: ‘good’ is in context of your website, your traffic and your business – for some businesses it’s 100 visits per month on a content page, for others it’s 1,000).
Learn how to protect your time. Whether you are a full-time entrepreneur or you’re building your business on the side, you must learn to be productive with your time in order to succeed. More specifically, you should be spending the majority of your time on income producing activities. Always be asking “What am I doing to grow my business?” Spend the majority of your time on activities that yield the greatest return on investment (emailing your list, product creation, etc.). Delegate all the activities that are necessary but do not have a direct correlation on your income (customer service, graphic design, etc.). Virtual assistants are fantastic for delegating many of the essential but non-income producing activities of your business.

In this context, I guess each post can’t be thought of in isolation, but in terms of a mini content ecosystem that comprises of a great blog post optimised for on-page SEO, an upgrade to that post tailored for that specific content, various on-page email conversion points including an exit pop-up or similar -and then you combine all this with your off page link building and outreach efforts. That could be over 5,000 words of content all in just that one package.
Very impressive and comprehensive list you’ve compiled here, Pawan! If I could make a suggestion, check out DrumUp-employee advocacy platform, social media management and content curation and scheduling tool. It also has a built-in analytics feature for your social media activity and employee advocacy program. If you find it interesting, do consider adding it to you list 🙂

Most online marketers find it necessary to outsource or delegate at least a few of their marketing tasks. It’s rare that any one individual will excel at (much less have time for) every aspect of marketing: writing, communications, social media, technical SEO, etc. For this reason it’s important to have great management skills -- in particular, the ability to inspire and motivate those around you to help you meet your goals.
With digital marketing you can target your specific audience. You can even use something called a lookalike audience on Facebook to target customers like the ones you already have. This audience is built from your email list of customers that you already have. Facebook will take these emails and find customers on Facebook that are similar to your existing customers. You also don’t have to target your existing customers with Facebook ads – you can completely exclude them! Using a lookalike audience will mean that your ads are being seen by more qualified leads which can ultimately lead to more sales and building lifetime relationships with loyal customers.
I had also felt the same things which spurred Matthew to create a blog that contained actionable material. At that time, guest blogging was in much vogue with established sites like Problogger, Copyblogger, Johnchow accepting filler content in the name of guest posts. If 6 posts went live each week, 5 of them would be guest posts with rehashed content.
Offer a reward for customers who buy something from you and show that they checked in at your business on Foursquare using their mobile device. When they do this, they’re telling everyone in their network that they’ve done business with you. Each month, reward the person who gave you the greatest exposure by offering a discount, and asking for their email address.

Speaking of ratings, asking for reviews for your business is something that is extremely easy to do online. You can send an email asking your customers what they thought of your product and to kindly rate it. You can run an ad or boost a post asking followers to give you a review in exchange for a coupon. In both of these examples you can include a simple button or call to action that links directly to a review site. This information can be used to redesign your product or service so that it better meets people’s needs if the ratings are not so great. It can also be used to show new customers that your product or service is better than your competitors if the ratings are great!

You can’t use a pop up on every single page of your website which is where a global sign up bar comes into play. A sign up bar can be placed at the top or bottom of the browser window, allowing you to display your messaging, offer, and sign up form in an unobtrusive manner throughout your website. This allows you to be open to lead conversion opportunities at all times. While email pop ups will capture more emails than a sign up bar, this gives you a more subtle way to engage visitors.
Pricing details are an important consideration when you analyze SaaS vendors. Ask the vendor if they offer price safeguards and contractual flexibility. “Shelfware” has become a major problem in SaaS licensing as customers end up paying for more than they need. Plus, to get pricing predictability, customers are forced to subscribe to long-term contracts. Make sure you don’t get saddled with perpetual licensing and get locked in for a long period with a single provider. Ask about easy exit policies that enable you to move on to another provider if you are not satisfied with the services offered by the current one. Select a vendor that offers a convenient standard annual termination facility as well as long-term cost protection.

Content marketing includes things like blogging which can immensely help your business. You can write blogs so that they rank in Google search and they can also help your potential customers to understand your business or answer questions that they have. How can you rank with a blog? It’s all about the length of the blog, how many times you can strategically place your keyword, how many clicks and shares it receives and how long people spend reading. Whatever you blog about make sure your blogs are full of useful and relevant information that is related to your brand. No matter what type of business you have, there is something to blog about, whether it’s tips and tricks, giving advice or simply promoting your business.

Should you be on all social media platforms? Probably not. This is where knowing your audience comes into play. Where are they spending their time? Your customers are using one or more platforms however, and social media is one of the best ways to promote your message today. Take a look at the demographics of the platforms and your audience and spend time where they are spending time. Here is a quick overview:
For your business to be able to compete online, it’s become imperative to have a properly-optimised mobile site. Mobile traffic has surpassed desktop web traffic for the first time in 2016, and Google’s various ‘mobilegeddon‘ algorithm updates have increasingly penalised sites that aren’t optimised for mobile. So to give your site the best chance in search, it pays to track down and fix up those issues that keep it from working well on mobile.
It’s not as clear cut as it seems. There are many content marketing tools that fall into multiple categories, but I have placed them in the category that best represents them. For example, Marketing AI measures analytics for your content, then helps you better optimize your content. In this case, should Marketing AI fall into the Analytics or Optimization tools group? In this case, I placed them in the Analytics group. However, Parse.ly is a relatively similar tool I decided to place into the Optimization category.

So, we surveyed digital agencies to discover the tools that have revolutionized some part of their business. Most of the respondents were members of the Databox Partner Program, a community of 90+ agencies that track marketing and sales data in real-time so they can run more successful campaigns for clients. There’s an old saying that when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem tends to look like a nail. Fight that kind of thinking as much as you can. Your plan may call for expertise you don’t have, or actions you aren’t very good at. So make some room in your plan to partner with someone else. If you’re great at connecting with customers but lousy at technology, find a partner whose strengths and weaknesses perfectly complement yours. Believe me, that person is out there and wants desperately to work with you.
The web is a real estate game. If you want to successfully market your business online, you need to cost-effectively maximize your Web “footprint.” You should start by maximizing your real estate in the search engine results because search engines are one of the few advertising channels where you can cost-effectively put your business directly in front of people with interest and intent. Every page of your website, social media site, niche blog, industry directory, etc. is another piece of real estate capable of converting visitors into leads.
Hi Kal, thanks for your comment. I am not sure what happened to those people whom you mentioned in the comment. Are they alright? I guess, as the writer I am at liberty to include marketers whom I like or have interacted with. For this post I have included only those marketers with whom I have some level of interaction. Harsh for example wanted to hire me for his blog. I have known Matthew Woodward since the time he started his award winning blog and so on.People like Frank Kern are so busy that they won’t even notice if I have written about them and they don’t actively blog too, I guess.

Video marketing isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it’s only going to get bigger. While creating and publishing videos may have been costly in the past, there are more than enough tools to generate, guide, or let you make the entire video yourself for an incredibly reasonable price – which is great news for your budget. In short, there’s absolutely no excuse for not launching a video marketing campaign.

The ease of sharing your marketing video content is also another very important feature, which you need to consider when selecting the best video tool. AVS Video editor allows you to share your videos in different ways: Save the video in a suitable format on your PC, you can then burn it in a DVD, adjust the video for your iOS or Android devices, or easily publish your creative video on your social network or website.
The concept is simple. If someone is reading an in-depth blog post of yours, chances are they’re very interested in what you have to say on the topic. The key is to then offer them something that is directly related to the topic they’re reading about. You know they’re already interested, so by offering instantaneous extra value it’s not difficult to see why people would gladly sign up.

Wow, ultimate list indeed! Thank you for this! You might also want to add MyConversionBrain ( http://www.myconversionbrain.com ) to this list. I find their lead management and conversion automation platform very easy to use. It’s an ideal interface for me, as I’m not too savvy when it comes to technology! 🙂 I think, the best feature of MyConversionBrain is that they’re based on Intelligent Marketing. They’re able to track leads and identify the person behind it, their geo location, ip address etc. so you’ll know if a competitor is sending out fake enquiries. Knowing more about the people who visit my site allows me to understand what they need. I even get alerted when a person comes back to my site, which makes our follow-up’s much organized. Lots of great features to help me boost the ROI on my marketing investments. MyConversionBrain has incredibly improved my small jewelry business, and I know it’ll also do wonders for other businesses too, especially the small business ones.

Respondents from Search Engine Journal’s 2016 State of Marketing Report claim that content marketing is the “most effective aspect of digital marketing.” But, there’s a lot to handle regarding the planning and execution of a strong content strategy. There’s building the right creative team, developing a content calendar – and even when all that’s taken care of – the content itself needs to be created, optimized, and evaluated.

Buzzsumo is a content analysis tool which gives you a breakdown of the social shares for content published to any domain, allowing you to discover the most popular and shareable content for your own website – or a competitor’s – and find out which networks your content resonates with. I think what Brian and the testers are missing is that 15k is neither big enough to be impressive nor small enough to be inviting. It’s not a number that works effectively as social proof, and while I can’t test it out myself, I believe, based on evidence for social proof around the web, that DIYthemes would have had much better success with a combined number in the 50k+ range as mentioned above.

In the past we had many different lead offers using only discounts; everything from 20% off to buy-one-get-one-free.  Take a minute to understand your potential customers’ decision chain, and what’s most important to them. Once you do that, you can match the right offer.  We now offer a free trial of our product to get leads to the top of the funnel.  Then we try and educate them about the value of language learning, and throw in a tasty offer offer from time to time.  With this multi-staged approach, we're beginning to see much higher conversion rates and lower CPA.
The key here is to ask regularly rather than just once or twice. Most of your followers only see a fraction of your posts, and you should be getting new followers every day, so it makes sense to request subscriptions at regular intervals. If you can offer some sort of incentive or even just promise exclusive content within your emails, that helps too.
