Great, inspiring post Sonia. I wrote a plan called ‘getting the new Turner Ink website done’. It’s got 17 points and yep I’m still at number one. But it’s g-r-ad-u-a-ll-y getting done with teeny tiny baby steps. If I hadn’t written the plan and stuck it to the wall I would still be weeping into my soggy cornflakes and would be no further done the line.
Inbound marketing refers to creating digital content that draws customers in with the information they actually want, rather than going out and trying to grab their attention with cold calling, print ads, billboards, or shrieking. Instead, you’ll be using all of your digital channels, including your website, blog, email lists, and social media accounts, to bring potential customers to content that aligns with their goals.
Save any new documentation as a PDF for download, and require that individuals enter their names and email addresses in order to access it. The value of the information you are offering is directly proportional to the amount of personal data your customers are willing to provide, so make sure the tradeoff is fair. A highly anticipated white paper or report can garner a high number of new email subscribers who are openly expressing interest in your brand, so don’t leave this opportunity unaddressed.
Apester is a handy free tool for creating interactive content like quizzes, which can liven up your content marketing with some fun and engaging pieces. We’ve been using it here at ClickZ and Search Engine Watch to power challenges such as ‘How well do you know these 25 SEO abbreviations?‘ and ‘Can you decipher these marketing and business buzzwords?‘
Use a reactivation campaign to gauge whether non-responsive subscribers are still reading (just not clicking through or tracking open rates), or if they’ve truly decided to opt out. An example from MarketingProfs is shown here. The language you choose can play a big role in how successful these campaigns are, so be sure to split-test a few versions to maximize response.
Callidus provides a broad selection of tools and four levels of service that can meet a wide range of marketing needs for your business. It all starts with a basic bundle providing marketing automation and enablement, and builds to the company's Sales Performance bundle, which helps to ensure that your sales reps are properly motivated through their compensation plans. There's even an incentive for customers through the company's "Badgeville" feature, which offers rewards and gamification for customers.
Every ESP will give you tools to create an opt-in form for your site. Generally speaking, the less information you ask for (at this initial stage, at least), the better. The more information you ask for, the less likely your prospect is to complete the process. You’ll obviously need to ask for an email address, and I also highly recommended that you ask for a first name so you can personalize your emails. However, asking for any information beyond these two fields can decrease conversion rates significantly without adding much valuable data.

Blogging is one of the most powerful internet marketing channels available. According to a study conducted by HubSpot, marketers who have prioritized blogging are 13x more likely to enjoy a positive ROI. Businesses who have prioritized blogging receives, at least, 55% more visitors, 97 inbound links and have 434% more indexed pages on search engines.

Thank you for putting together this great list, Pawan. There’s a lot of tools here that I think my team can benefit from! If you or your readers are looking for something to revolutionize your calls, give Tenfold a try. Tenfold is a phone intelligence platform that integrates CRMs and phone systems quickly, enabling companies to personalize calls, capture call data, and just overall enhance prospect and customer interactions. Hope you check us out!
I applaud your initiative in putting together a list like this. The research going into it had to have been gruesome. However, as you point out, it is not exhaustive. Just as an example: you missed MailChimp which is one of the most used email platforms; DrumUp which I use in addition to Hootsuite as a scheduler because of the ease of scheduling posts to a Facebook business page; Medium is an excellent blog publishing platform; and more. Not a criticism of your work, which I love because it points out options I have not yet explored. More a reminder to everyone else that no list like this is exhaustive.
Note: This is the exact set up recording gear I used for my multiple 6-figure summit, List Building School and what most of my successful VSM students tend to use as well. I’ve since updated my own setup to up the quality 100 times at least, and as that’s more advanced and cost a few $1,000 I won’t go into it here (I do cover the exact tools and setup I use now in my premium flagship program Virtual Summit Mastery though).
Saber Blast – This is the simple and intuitive email marketing software I created after I got tired of using Aweber and Mailchimp. Most people don’t know about it since it’s still new but if you’re on the market for an email marketing solution, this offers a lot of valuable features that the competition doesn’t. For instance, Saber Blast helps you increase the number of email subscribers you capture, provides automated follow-up (easy to manage autoresponder) and recommendations on who is and isn’t a lead from your email list based on their engagement levels. At it’s core, it’s designed to grow your business. It has minimal features when it comes to the design of your newsletter since we believe that’s actually a distraction from taking the revenue-growing action of creating great content to quickly and painlessly send to subscribers.

You worked really hard in order to write such a big and interesting article. I’m wondering how many tools are there nowadays. As for me, I prefer promoting my business using social networks and Instagram. There’s a good tool https://bigbangram.com/ that allows you to gain your targeted audience and has a lot of functions that allows to interact with followers automatically. All you have to do is to look after your page.

Matt Ackerson founded AutoGrow (Petovera Inc.) in 2010 as a conversion-focused web design agency. The company has since worked one-on-one with over 500 customers and clients to create their sales funnels. Matt is a graduate of Cornell University. Editorial Disclosure: Inc. writes about products and services in this and other articles. These articles are editorially independent - that means editors and reporters research and write on these products free of any influence of any marketing or sales departments. In other words, no one is telling our reporters or editors what to write or to include any particular positive or negative information about these products or services in the article. The article's content is entirely at the discretion of the reporter and editor. You will notice, however, that sometimes we include links to these products and services in the articles. When readers click on these links, and buy these products or services, Inc may be compensated. This e-commerce based advertising model - like every other ad on our article pages - has no impact on our editorial coverage. Reporters and editors don't add those links, nor will they manage them. This advertising model, like others you see on Inc, supports the independent journalism you find on this site.
Social media marketing is a form of digital marketing that involves marketing across social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Advertising campaigns on social media are quick to set up and you can target these ads to specific groups of people. The amount of data that is collected through social media can help you tweak ads to make them more aligned with what your customers want to see as well as make your dollar stretch as far as it can. Advertising on social media is by far the cheapest way to advertise.

The best way to approach a giveaway is to offer something that’s valuable to your target market. For example, when you’re building an online cooking community, giving away kitchen appliances might be a great way to attract an audience. Of course, there might be a subset that is only interested in the price than what else you have to offer, but in the end using Giveaways can bring in a lot of new leads.
Marketing consistency. Automated marketing eliminates the risk of human error, as there is only software to control the wheel, and such cannot be influenced by opinions and feelings, or interrupted as an employee could. Therefore, the entire marketing strategy is smoother and more consistent, and you have a variety of tools to promote your business even when you’re not directing it.
Your tip about CTA’s really hit the spot. I’ve been noticing that some of our competitors are using wordy yet highly specific buttons like ‘Get My Free Consultation Now!’ or ‘See Other Works From ____’. I was skeptic at first, but reading your logic behind it, it makes sense. I’m looking forward to implementing this on my own sites. Thank you, Brian.
Formed in 2011 WeVideo is a Software as a Service tool that gives users the power to create and edit engaging videos for your business. Even if you don’t have any experience in creating videos, WeVideo gives you the opportunity to essentially be the director of your video by giving you full creative control when working with the company’s professional graphic designers. You can also customize your videos by adding your logo, color scheme, info cards, calls-to-action, and then publish the video onto platforms like YouTube. One of the most appealing components is that you can invite team members to collaborate and contribute on videos.
Wow this was an extensive list but I did not see Opentopic on this list. Opentopic (http://opentopic.com ) is very useful for content discovery, content curation, content publishing, content analytics, and newsletter creation to cover all your content marketing needs. After creating you can easily publish it directly to blogs, social media feeds, or newsletters. Then once created, Opentopic content analytics capabilities will help you evaluate and monitor engagement and performance to make content marketing work for you.
Calls to Action Should you tell people to click right away or save the CTA for further along in the email? Should the button/link say “Click Here” or “Find Out More”? When it comes down to getting people to take action (the most important part of marketing), you simply must test a variety of elements to improve conversions, as this is one of the worst elements to leave to guesswork!
If foldl is called with n lists, then proc must take n+1 arguments. The extra argument is the combined return values so far. The proc is initially invoked with the first item of each list, and the final argument is init. In subsequent invocations of proc, the last argument is the return value from the previous invocation of proc. The input lsts are traversed from left to right, and the result of the whole foldl application is the result of the last application of proc. If the lsts are empty, the result is init.
Buffer – This one is the simplest and most practical for the purposes of promoting content since it will automatically try to share the content you pop into its feed to your social profiles at the most relevant time, maximizing exposure. The main downside they scaled back on their free plan so now you’re limited to connecting 2 or 3 social media profiles before they required you to upgrade. Regardless, it’s still very affordable and worth the $20 per month they charge.
Outages – A lengthy outage can play havoc with your company’s productivity and revenue. Therefore, read the vendor’s SLA (Service Level Agreement) carefully and analyze their historical performance before entrusting your applications and data to the cloud. The vendor should guarantee a very good uptime percentage and ensure outages are kept as less as possible.
With still so many marketers relying on print materials to guide prospects through the customer journey, it’s crucial for businesses to have a way to turn their digital content into print-friendly formats. Plugins from technology like Priint allow marketers to integrate creative tools from Adobe to quickly automate the transfer of online designs to offline mediums.

Big data enables companies to better target the core needs of customers by developing rich and informative content. Let’s understand how it helps companies collect data about customer behaviors. One example is cookie files. They collect information about customers’ activities as they browse the internet, generating personalized data in the process.
According to Search Engine Journal, 63% of consumers say they are more likely to purchase from a site that has product ratings or reviews. In a series of peer-reviewed studies conducted in 2008, researchers determined that social proof had more of an effect on behavior modification than concepts like protecting the environment, personal responsibility or even saving money.
If you own a small business or are doing marketing for one, especially if this is your first foray into internet marketing, HubSpot could be a really solid tool for you to try. Hubspot offers users a basic version of its suite of tools entirely for free - forever. This isn't a one-month trial. More fully featured packages will cost you, but there is a range of prices - some as little as $50/month - and you're likely to find one that fits your needs.
If you have money to spend, you can easily reach the number one spot on the first page of Google search. But you will still need a strategy to make sure you are reaching the right audience and getting the highest conversion rates possible. Remember, unqualified clicks on your ads can waste your money, so make sure the people that click are genuinely interested in purchasing your product.
Traditionally, companies price products and services using basic information like product cost, competitor pricing, perceived value of the product from the customer and demand. With big data, you can use many other factors to make pricing decisions. For example, you can use data from completed deals, incentives and performance-based data. Big data emphasizes making pricing decisions as granular as possible, particularly in the business-to-business (B2B) sector, as each deal is different from the next.
socialmention allows you to search for any word, phrase or hashtag to see where people are using it across the internet. It’s useful for keeping tabs on a hashtag campaign or brand name beyond social media, as it also covers blogs, bookmarks, images and videos. You can also see whether people are using your term in a positive or negative context, its level of reach, and whether users are mentioning it repeatedly.
More than ever before, people buy from people they know and trust. Being trustworthy -- and able to convey this trait to others -- is critical to being a successful online marketer. Garish, over-the-top landing pages; blatant self-promotion on social media; and spammy, keyword-laden copy will inevitably damage or destroy your online reputation. Being authentic and trustworthy is what will set you apart, helping you build long-term relationships with your customers and clients.
There are a few email guidelines that you will need to follow in order to have a successful campaign. The first is to have a catchy subject line. Take Dollar Shave Club for example. They used a simple yet intriguing subject line to entice users to open their email. Subject lines are the first thing users see before opening your email. Tell them what’s waiting for them inside and make it sound irresistible. Once you get people to open your email, the next step is getting them to take action.

Huffington Post and Newsweek among others. The startup recently raised $19 million.

Why It Is Important: “It helps me keep all of my communications straight. It integrates with the majority of the tools out there, so it eliminates redundancy. I can login to most tools with it as well, so I don’t need to remember passwords. The HubSpot CRM is an amazing tool, for example, so with the Sales Pro add-on, it supercharges the way I use my email and makes my inbox an extension of my CRM. It’s the most efficient part of my business. I love it!”
Animoto is the easiest video editor around – it will help you create a stunning video in just 3 simple steps: add your photos and videos, customize your video with music, styles and other features of your choice, embed it on your website and voila – you got yourself a great video in a matter of seconds! The tool is also available as an app to help you share videos on mobile.
I am happy to also ask for a plug for my family’s apparel website in the opener of said post if you think this post suggestion is a good idea. Shameless I know…..LOL! But hey maybe it will get your fans to keep submitting ideas. There might be something here to channel your fan base to get us to help your business. Think it over…..You really have reached Malcolm Gladwell Tribe status. And have done a great job with that. At this point whatever you asked the tribe to do they would deliver for you.

Couple your sign-up boxes with a clear description of “what’s in it for them.” Let customers know exactly what to expect when signing up, and sell the benefits for being on your email list. This can be as simple as promoting the general advantages of the channel — such as being able to receive information and offers faster and that it’s eco-friendly.
Content marketing includes things like blogging which can immensely help your business. You can write blogs so that they rank in Google search and they can also help your potential customers to understand your business or answer questions that they have. How can you rank with a blog? It’s all about the length of the blog, how many times you can strategically place your keyword, how many clicks and shares it receives and how long people spend reading. Whatever you blog about make sure your blogs are full of useful and relevant information that is related to your brand. No matter what type of business you have, there is something to blog about, whether it’s tips and tricks, giving advice or simply promoting your business.

Having just seen Life of Pi, it occurs to me that online marketing for small businesses is like being that young man in a tiny boat at sea. You have a set number of things you can use to survive and thrive – a net, a spear, resilience and creativity. Use them all and get to safe shores. You may even find you can outrace the big cruise ships in reaching your customers.
Thanks Lilach, good post. We have been working to make a platform to make viral videos from any post with animationvideo.co. We have many examples with our clients with more than 500.000 views, and only $15 in Facebook Ads. Here an example facebook.com/BeerspaGranada/videos/277005262787135/ . The most important KPI for us is the connection that we get with good stories + our squares video structure of information + text (the 80% of views in Facebook are without audio) + little “bombs” in Facebook Ads. Thanks for the review. Cheers.
